Introducing the Bar Etiquette Instructor

After nearly a decade of bartending experience, I have seen it all.  From fist fights to moronic underage kids trying to sneak into the bar to all sorts of bodily fluids ending up in the wrong places, if it has happened at a bar it has probably gone down during a shift of mine at some point in the past.

Of course, a bar is a place to unwind, to let go, to share a drink with friends and to shed the worries of the day.  This does not, however, mean that you have a license to act like a complete fool as some people tend to think.  In fact, there are some very simple changes you can make to your behavior at the bar that will quickly result in a greater enjoyment of your experience the next time you go out for a drink, they might even help you save a good deal of money.

My goal with this website is to provide some quick bar etiquette tips and to explain the reasoning behind them.  I will be sure to keep things as entertaining as possible with stories from my bartending past, stories from my current bartending job and maybe even a story from a guest bartender or two at some point.  At the same time, my hope is that the words on this site will help to prevent you from becoming the subject of one of these stories.

So, with that, I hope you enjoy the site and I hope you learn something as well.

Cheers!
